Raptor Films, a Los Angeles-based audio and video production company, was founded in 2005 by award-winning producer and director Bing Bruce, creator of the Rise Above The Noise Podcast Academy and author of the companion book Rise Above The Noise: A Beginners Guide To Professional Podcasting. Developed as a comprehensive and practical educational resource, the program and book together offer an accelerated, professional approach to podcast training, designed to help students produce quality podcasts efficiently and effectively.
Raptor Films has built a longstanding reputation for delivering high-caliber content across multiple media platforms, including television, streaming services, podcasts, and feature films. With clients ranging from Sony Music to Aston Martin, and projects such as the Leucadia Therapeutics Alzheimer’s research promotion and USOG drone delivery system productions. Raptor Films combines creative storytelling with technical excellence supported by a full team of industry professionals.
The Rise Above The Noise Podcast Academy is a one-day, hands-on class limited to a maximum of eight students per session. This format ensures personalized instruction, with focused training on professional show structure, interview techniques, and practical equipment use. Unlike semester-long college courses or extensive textbooks filled with extraneous content, the class emphasizes real-world skills and immediate application.
Producer and director Bing Bruce explains, “If a person wants to fly, they don’t just buy a plane and start flying, figuring it out along the way. Those who do that often crash. The same goes for podcasting. Many people jump into podcasting, purchasing expensive equipment and no training, leading to a high failure rate after just a few episodes. Rise Above The Noise offers focused, professional training so creators avoid those pitfalls.”
In addition to the academy’s in-person instruction, graduates receive lifetime coaching support, a unique offering not typically found in other podcast education programs. This ongoing mentorship helps podcasters stay current with evolving trends and technology in the industry.
Bing began his career in the entertainment industry in the 1980s, working in both radio and television. His passion for music led him into the recording industry, producing dozens of songs and several albums, with one of his own compositions reaching the top 40 on mp3.com. His radio career included co-hosting the comedy morning show The BAD Morning Show, which simulcast on satellite radio and TV for 12 years. Over time, Bing has produced and directed music videos, two national television shows, local television shows in Southern California, commercials, model photography, and internet broadcasts. He is also known for occasionally appearing as Doc Brown from Back to the Future at Comic-Con events.
Raptor Films embodies Bing’s extensive experience, providing a comprehensive production service including writing, make-up artistry, drone piloting, camera operation, computer graphics, sound engineering, set design, and editing. The Rise Above The Noise book complements the academy by distilling core podcasting principles into an accessible format, deliberately avoiding the padded content often found in academic programs or textbooks written to meet publishing length requirements. Both the Academy and the book equip aspiring podcasters with practical knowledge and essential skills in a streamlined format, designed to help even beginners reach a professional level in a short time.
With podcasting’s rapid growth as a content medium, Raptor Films’ approach responds to an increasing demand for streamlined, practical training that produces competent podcasters ready to meet industry expectations. The academy’s small class size and focus on personalized instruction provide a notable alternative to self-taught methods like online videos, which often lack instructor feedback and can propagate dated or misinformation.
Bing Bruce is also active in speaking engagements centered on podcasting expertise. Scheduled appearances include a free event titled “How to be an Effective Podcast Guest” at the Diamond Valley Writer’s Guild meeting at the Hemet Library in California on June 21st, a session at Writers Cantina in South Salt Lake City, Utah on July 25-26, and a Keynote speaker at the White Mountains Annual Writers Conference in Show Low Arizona on August 8-9.
Bing’s approach to teaching podcasting blends humor and honesty, emphasizing professional standards while fostering an engaging learning environment. He notes that while some podcasters may hesitate to interview him due to his experience and direct style, his goal is to educate and support podcasters of all ages and backgrounds.
Raptor Films continues to expand its role in the evolving digital media landscape, combining decades of experience with innovative education to support creators in rising above the noise of today’s crowded podcast environment.
