Dave Lesser is growing Lesser Lending through a difficult mortgage market while turning hard won lessons into technology and sales leadership systems.

Building Through A Difficult Mortgage Market

When a difficult mortgage environment pushed many professionals to become more cautious, Dave Lesser saw a different opportunity. Instead of waiting for conditions to change, he focused on building a mortgage business capable of gaining ground while the broader market was contracting.

That strategy became the driving force behind Lesser Lending, the Spokane, Washington mortgage team led by Lesser. His objective has not been simply to produce more loans. It has been to build a company that clients want to work with, real estate professionals want to refer, and salespeople want to grow with.

Lesser remains a producing loan officer while also leading and developing other mortgage professionals. That combination is central to his approach. He is not building from a distance or teaching concepts detached from the work. He continues to experience the challenges of lending, client communication, sales execution, and business development firsthand.

The difficult market has therefore become part of the story. Higher interest rates, affordability concerns, lower transaction volume, and negative housing headlines created significant pressure across the mortgage industry. For Lesser, however, those conditions created a reason to become more disciplined about service, relationships, technology, and execution.

According to the information provided for this article, Lesser was recognized by Scotsman Guide as a Top 1% Mortgage Originator in both 2025 and 2026. Lesser Lending has also developed a strong focus on first time homebuyers and participates as a lender with the Washington State Housing Finance Commission, helping buyers navigate available homeownership and down payment assistance programs.

Yet the recognition is only one part of the larger story. The more significant development has been what Lesser built behind the production.

Recognized as Best Mortgage Lender in Spokane, WA of 2026

Lesser Lending has been recognized by Best of Best Review as the Best Mortgage Lender in Spokane, WA of 2026, honoring its mortgage expertise, client communication, responsiveness, first time homebuyer support, and continued development in a challenging market.

The recognition reflects the company's focus on education and informed mortgage decisions, its support for first time homebuyers, and its commitment to building a more consistent, client-focused lending experience while expanding its presence across the Pacific Northwest.

In 2026, Dave’s wife, Rochelle, left a 10-year career in the insurance industry to join him in managing and growing Lesser Lending. What had largely been Dave’s vision became something they were building together, with a focus on growing the Lesser Lending brand in Spokane and throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Turning Growth Into A Leadership System

As Lesser Lending continued to develop, Lesser became increasingly interested in the systems that supported growth. The experience exposed an important question: What happens when the lessons learned from building a sales organization can be turned into something repeatable?

That question led to The Lesser Method.

The Lesser Method is a sales coaching and leadership system built from the strategies, processes, expectations, and lessons Lesser developed while growing his own organization. Its foundation is practical sales execution, accountability, business development, leadership, and repeatable systems.

Lesser's philosophy is straightforward. Sales performance should not depend entirely on personality, motivation, or individual memory. Strong organizations need systems that help people execute consistently.

"Your feelings don't close loans. Systems do. I'm not teaching from a business I used to run. Every system I teach gets tested in my own pipeline first," Lesser says.

That distinction is important to the broader Dave Lesser story. The Lesser Method did not emerge as a separate idea created in isolation. It grew from the experience of building Lesser Lending and developing the people responsible for its continued growth.

In that sense, sales leadership became another extension of the mortgage business itself. The same environment that required Lesser to compete in a challenging market also gave him a testing ground for the ideas he would eventually teach.

When Business Problems Became Technology

The same pattern appeared when Lesser encountered limitations in the technology supporting his businesses.

Rather than accepting disconnected software or relying on systems that required constant manual attention, he began developing technology around the problems he was actually experiencing. That work eventually became LSSR Digital.

LSSR Digital is a business operating platform designed to support the customer lifecycle, including lead generation, conversion, communication, automation, customer experience, and long term follow up.

"I didn't set out to start a tech company. I needed a system that didn't depend on me remembering everything, and nobody was selling one that worked. So I built it," Lesser says.

The significance of LSSR Digital is not simply that a mortgage professional created a technology business. It is that the technology emerged from the demands of an operating business.

Lesser Lending provided the environment where problems became visible. Building the mortgage team created the need for better systems. Developing salespeople revealed the importance of consistency and accountability. Those experiences eventually produced businesses that extended beyond mortgage lending.

The connection between the three ventures is therefore intentional. Lesser Lending is the business where the ideas are developed and tested. LSSR Digital represents the technology built around those real world challenges. The Lesser Method turns lessons from sales and leadership into a system that can be taught.

A Broader Vision For Lesser Lending

Lesser's broader goal remains centered on Lesser Lending and its continued growth throughout Spokane and the Pacific Northwest. The strategy is not based on pretending the mortgage environment is easy. It is based on building a business that can compete effectively when conditions are difficult.

That means maintaining a high level of communication, solving complicated problems, educating clients, supporting real estate partners, and developing salespeople who can contribute to a growing organization.

Lesser describes his role in simple terms: He is still doing the work.

That point separates his story from the conventional narrative of a founder who steps away from operations and becomes a commentator on the industry. Lesser continues to originate loans while building a team, developing technology, and refining the leadership principles behind the organization.

The result is a business story with several connected chapters. Lesser Lending represents the mortgage operation and the primary growth vehicle. LSSR Digital represents the technology that emerged from solving problems inside that business. The Lesser Method represents the sales leadership lessons developed through the process of building people and performance.
