Adnane El Khaili : Ten Years of Legal Practice

Biz Weekly Contributor

After completing ten years in the legal profession, Adnane El Khaili reflects on a journey that began in Tetouan, Morocco, and expanded across borders to Doha, Qatar. From his first days as a trainee lawyer to becoming a co-founder of a modern legal services group, his career illustrates persistence, adaptation, and a long-term commitment to professional growth.

Q: Mr. El Khaili, when did your legal career officially begin?

A: My legal career officially began on January 6, 2016, when I joined the Tetouan Bar in Morocco as a trainee lawyer. That moment was very meaningful for me. It was the point where law stopped being something I studied and became something I lived every day. I was suddenly responsible for real cases, real clients, and real consequences. That period laid the foundation for everything I have built since then, both professionally and personally.

Q: How important was the trainee phase in shaping you as a lawyer?

A: It was absolutely fundamental. The trainee phase is where you learn what it really means to be a lawyer. You are not just reading laws anymore, you are dealing with people who are worried, stressed, and often in difficult situations. I learned discipline, time management, and how to think strategically. Most importantly, I learned that law is about serving people, not just applying rules.

Q: In 2019, you founded El Khaili Law Firm. What did that step represent for you?

A: Founding my own firm in 2019 was one of the most important decisions of my career. It represented independence, but also responsibility. I wanted to create a law firm that reflected my own values and vesion. I wanted clients to feel that their cases were being handled with seriousness and long-term thinking, not just quick solutions.

Q: You moved to practice law in Qatar in 2021. How did that influence your career?

A: Moving to Qatar in 2021 changed my professional life in many ways. Qatar has a very international business environment, and that exposed me to cross-border legal issues, multinational clients, and more complex commercial matters. It forced me to adapt, to learn quickly, and to think globally. That experience strengthened my ability to handle international and regional legal work.

Q: What were the biggest challenges you faced during these ten years?

A: One of the biggest challenges was building credibility at a young age. In the legal profession, experience matters a lot, and you have to prove yourself through your work. I also faced the pressure of handling serious cases where people’s rights, businesses, and futures were involved. Adapting to different legal systems, especially when I moved to Qatar, was another major challenge.

Q: Did those challenges ever make you doubt your path?

A: No, they never made me doubt my path. On the contrary, they made me more committed. Every challenge taught me something new about the law, about clients, and about myself. Difficult moments push you to become better, more careful, and more professional.

Q: How does Adnane El Khaili see the legal profession today?

A: I see the legal profession as a profession of responsibility and ethics. Law is not only about rules or contracts, it is about protecting rights, ensuring fairness, and maintaining justice. Lawyers have a duty not only to their clients but also to society. That responsibility should always guide how we practice.

Q: In 2025, you became co-founder of Elite Legal Services Group in Doha, Qatar. What does this achievement mean to you?

A: Becoming a co-founder of Elite Legal Services Group in 2025 was a major milestone for me. It reflects my belief in modern, well-structured legal services that meet today’s business needs. Companies and individuals now need more than traditional law firms, they need efficient, strategic, and internationally aware legal support.

Q: What does success mean to you after 10 years of practice?

A: For me, success is not just about titles or financial results. Success is about earning people’s trust, maintaining integrity, and building a strong professional reputation over time. In law, your credibility is everything. If people trust you, you have succeeded.

Q: What ambitions do you still have for the future?

A: I want to continue developing my expertise and to strengthen legal cooperation between Morocco, Qatar, and other jurisdictions. The world is becoming more connected, and lawyers who can work across borders have an important role to play.

Q: What advice would you give to young lawyers?

A: I would tell them to be patient, keep learning, and respect the profession. Law is not a short-term career, it is a long journey. If you work with integrity and dedication, the results will come in time.
