The Impact of HBO’s The White Lotus on Luxury Travel: A Four Seasons Perspective

A Visual Feast: The Resorts of The White Lotus

As the third season of HBO’s acclaimed series The White Lotus unfolds, one certainty prevails: the depiction of opulent resorts will be nothing short of breathtaking. The Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts played a key role in this vision, particularly when the first season was filmed in Maui during the pandemic in 2020. At that time, the plot was still under development, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

Strategic Filming Locations

David Bernad, the executive producer of The White Lotus, revealed that while he explored various hotels and locations, their choice of the Four Seasons was pivotal. “It was a hotel we filmed there, so it’s been four seasons,” Bernad stated, reflecting on the decision to feature the luxury brand prominently.

Marketing Mastery: The Four Seasons and The White Lotus Connection

The partnership between The White Lotus and the Four Seasons has had surprising outcomes for the brand. What could have turned into a potential marketing concern—given the show’s themes involving murder and intrigue—has instead resulted in a significant boost to the hotel’s visibility, with audiences increasingly searching for the locations showcased in the show.

A marketing analyst mentioned that the intertwining of luxury brands with complex narratives can often pose risks; however, in the case of the Four Seasons, the opposite effect has been observed.

New Wellness Initiatives: Four Seasons’ 2026 World of Wellness

In light of the renewed interest fueled by the series, the Four Seasons is set to launch the “World of Wellness 2026” initiative. This program will include a private jet excursion featuring eight destinations, three of which are integral to The White Lotus: Maui (Season 1), Italy (Season 2), and Koh Samui (Season 3). The luxury journey, which promises an unprecedented travel experience, begins at a price point of $188,000 and is scheduled from May 7 to May 26, 2026.

The Anticipation of Season 3

While speculation runs rampant about the narratives within the current season—including potential character deaths—audiences remain engrossed in every storyline, searching for hidden details or “Easter eggs” within the plot. With immense viewership, the show has already been picked up for a fourth season, although the filming location remains undisclosed.

Streaming and Audience Engagement

The White Lotus airs on HBO, streaming episodes every Sunday at 9 PM ET/PT on Max. As the show continues to captivate viewers and spur interest in its luxurious settings, the connection between high-end travel and engaging storytelling becomes increasingly evident.
